3 sentences to live by in the year of 2016

1. Start where you are. 2. Use what you have. 3. Do what you can.

It's 2016, can you believe it? Well, I can! The three sentences above helps me to remind myself that I need to focus on the NOW to prepare for my FUTURE.

1. Start where you are.

• One of the first steps in becoming successful for me in 2016 is to specify my goals. I ask myself: Exactly what behavior (s) do I wish to change? How can I measure and track my progress? Truth is don't let others dictate what is important to you.

• Monitoring yourself for a week or more not only gives you a baseline to assess your progress once you take action, it can also make you more aware of what excatly needs changing.

2. Use what you have.

• Having the wilingness to act on that goal you set yourself with is a huge step on to being committed. Gather as much information as you can. Listen. Study. Understand. Learn. Repeat. As humans we are amazing creatures because we can look at the world, make intellectual connections, and use those connections to make our lives better (or potentially worse). This is what information allows us to do. Never turn your "learning switch" off. You never know when your flash of insight will come.

3. Do what you can.

• If you tend to try to accomplish too much, you undoubtedly put off the more diffcult tasks, like personal change, in order to attend to the relatively simple, less challenging ones. If you let others set your agenda and goals for you, personal change will always take a back seat. If you hate making goals for yourself, you will have to wait utill someone forces you to change. The more entirely you throw yourself into a new way of behaving, the more likely you are to experiance that way as being the best path to follow. In any case, commitment requires you to have faith in your ablity to succeed at the action you have chosen to take.
