12/15/15 . . . F-A-M-I-L-Y

"Great things are possible only to strong souls and it's from the trivial events of daily life that strength is won."

Walked outside to head to my friends house for dinner around 2PM and the weather outside was giving me LIFE. Literatlly, I did not need a jacket because it was high 70's outside with no wind but all SUN. I don't pay attention to the news about the weather that much but today sparked everyones attention because today is "Christmas Day" which seems if it should be snowing today. On that note, today did not snow which I actually enjoyed because I didn't shovel snow off my moms car.

Today is Christmas and it sure does not feel like it to me. I am getting older now and the idea of Christmas is irrelevant. When I was young the thought of a "Santa" was so unreal and knew off the bat this Santa guy could not just be only white skinned. With this in thought I kept the traditons of Christmas untill I started my journey as a college student while getting more knowledge about the bible. Going to bible study, having conference calls with my fellow sistah's, reading the scriptures, and praying to the Most High God gave me a new outlook on American hoilday traditions. American holiday's such as Christmas are so contradicting because Christmas is a Christian holiday honoring the birth of "Jesus Christ". To my knowledge, Santa is no where mention in the bible which displays to me that those who do celebrate "Christmas" is not really honoring the father Christ. Christ should be the MAIN POINT, main heading when it comes to the thought of Christmas. With that being said, I did not buy any gifts nor wished anyone a "Merry Christmas".

If you knew the worships behind these days would you still follow them?

READ FOR YOURSELF:

Jeremiah 10:1-5 King James Version (KJV)

10 Hear ye the word which the Lord speaketh unto you, O house of Israel:

2 Thus saith the Lord, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.

3 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.

4 They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.

5 They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.

Christmas lights: According to The Encyclopedia of Religion, Europeans decorated their homes “with lights and evergreens of all kinds” to celebrate the winter solstice and to combat evil spirits.

Christmas tree: “Tree worship, common among the pagan Europeans, survived after their conversion to Christianity.” One of the ways in which tree worship survived is in the custom of “placing a Yule tree at an entrance or inside the house in the midwinter holidays.”—Encyclopædia Britannica.

On the note: I use this day to remain close with my family by enjoying eachothers company with food, wine, and laughter.

Hope you all had a good day!
